What is an exercise physiology?

An Exercise Physiologist as someone who treats chronic or special conditions with exercise. We use exercise as an intervention and treatment for conditions including but not limited to:

  • Musculoskeletal conditions: Osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, knee/ hip replacements, kyphosis/ lordosis, Elhers-Danlos Syndrome etc.
  • Pain: Low back pain, joint pain, pain as a result of previous injury, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis etc. Women’s Health: PCOS, pre and post natal care etc.
  • Metabolic conditions: Type I & II Diabetes, metabolic syndrome, hypercholesterolemia etc.
  • Cardiac conditions: Heart disease, angina, heart attack etc.
  • Neurological conditions: Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease etc.
  • Other conditions: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Cancer Care, mental health conditions, weight loss, etc.
